On October 8th, project coordinator SingularLogic participated in the User Consultation Platform (UCP) 2024, organised online by the EU Agency for the Space Programme. EUSPA’s User Consultation Platform serves as a structured forum that brings together business and industry leaders, entrepreneurs, service providers, innovators and other EU Space use communities. It enables participants to share their needs, exchange best practices, and present case studies. The platform focuses on EUSPA’s key areas, addressing topics of interest to stakeholders using Copernicus, EGNOS, Galileo, and Secure SATCOM.
Urban Development Session
Dr. Stamatia Rizou, R&D Manager at SingularLogic, provided an overview of BUILDSPACE during the Urban Development Session, highlighting how the project leverages on-earth observation data and EGNSS to deliver its services and supports sustainable and resilient buildings in urban environments. The alignment and synchronization with Copernicus and EGNSS services ensure that the project is utilising the most appropriate data sources to develop its innovative applications. In particular, Copernicus data incorporates location information, on which EGNSS (positioning) data will be combined and aligned, thus enabling dynamic building monitoring at the city scale for SE1. Digital Twin Generation and SE2.Digital Twins enrichment.
Products provided by Copernicus services have been used also in the development of Service 3, Service 4 and Service 5. Precisely, SE3. Building Environment Climate Scenarios employs weather data from Copernicus for the Energy Demand estimation using future scenarios and comparing them with the historical ones. Regarding SE4. Urban Heat Analysis, Copernicus products have been used to improve the accuracy of urban heat interpolations and Resilience, while for SE5. Urban Flood Resilience Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) is used for blue-green infrastructure impact analysis.
The project is currently in the testing phase, with the goal of gathering information, learning lessons, and making service adjustments before the final release.
Participating in events such as the User Consultation Platform is crucial to enhance the understanding of BUILDSPACE and facilitate the broader application of the project’s outputs. Indeed, the current mission is to explore the potential for replication and utilisation of the services.
Additionally, following the event, BUILDSPACE was invited to be featured as a success story in the UCP Report that will be published next year.
