Held in Vienna, Austria, from the 14th to the 19th of April, EGU General Assembly 2024 brought together geoscientists from all over the world covering all disciplines of the Earth, planetary and space sciences. The event aimed to gather scientists and researchers to present their work and discuss their ideas with experts in all fields of geoscience.
During the event, Dr Iason Sotiropoulos from BUILDSPACE project partner SingularLogic and Dr Claudio Pisa from BUILDSPACE project partners European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts presented the poster entitled "Enabling seamless integration of Copernicus and in-situ data" was presented as part of the session titled "Seamless transitioning between HPC and cloud in support of Earth Observation, Earth Modeling, and community-driven Geoscience approach PANGEO”.
Their contribution summarized the development of BUILDSPACE Core Platform, offering a data management solution for the collection and storage of data sets.
The Core Platform is a pivotal element and foundational support of the BUILDSPACE ecosystem as it plays a crucial role in facilitating seamless data exchange, secure and scalable data storage, and streamlined access to data from three Copernicus services, namely the Land, Atmosphere, and Climate Change.
The platform offers numerous advantages, including enhanced scalability, efficient resource management, and simplified deployment processes. The implementation of the Core Platform has led to a current focus on integrating APIs from Copernicus services into the Core Platform's API. This ongoing effort aims to enhance the platform's capabilities by seamlessly incorporating external data, enriching the overall functionality and utility of the project.
The EGU General Assembly 2024 was a great opportunity for initiatives like BUILDSPACE. Partners’ presentations not only highlighted the importance of the project but also facilitated meaningful interactions with other professionals and researchers. Events like this are fundamental to the development of BUILDSPACE, enabling connections among stakeholders, sharing knowledge and accelerating positive change on a global scale.
